Away from hustle bustle of daily life, Hauz Khas Village is adored by everyone. However, except for selected places, food at HKV has always been below average. It is crowded as a village with antique shops, designer boutiques, numerous cafes and restaurants and restaurants with roof top overlooking the Hauz Khas Lake. SafdurJung Enclave’ community centre (SDA Market) which is opposite deer park, you will definitely come across great places. They maintain consistent quality and great food. Whether it is depot 29, where the waffles are mouth-watering or charcoal where the nimbu mutton and nimbu chicken is still amazing – the places are worth a visit!
Hungry Monkey is doing great business and has lot of foreign guests/visitors throughout the week. They also have couple of musical nights which works really well for them. Hungry monkey serves European and Californian food. You can read our earlier review here.
Last week we were invited to try their new winter menu and they also added some winter cocktails to their menu. The menu is huge, has lot of variety which includes salads, soups, small plates, burgers/sliders and main course. A look at the menu closely you will find lot of meats including tenderloin, lamb, pork and chickens. We tried salads and some small plates and few burgers. Of all the dishes, I loved their burger sliders. The falafel, pulled pork and crispy chicken sliders were absolutely delicious. They were really good and I would love to go back again to try their sliders. Though the pork belly which we tasted was undercooked and the salads lacked the freshness, yet with some improvisations on these, it is still worth an affair.
We loved the cocktails and it blends perfectly with the season. Final Fantasy, pumpkin infused rum with pineapple and sugar was absolutely delightful. Rum Runner was another winner for us – Dark rum mixed with blueberry, pomegranate juice, pineapple and lime.
