It’s not hard to guess that Eurasian cuisine is a fusion of European and Asian cuisines. Dirty Apron not only has dared to choose a gutsy name but also an unconventional cuisine. In fact, this diner by The Piano Man located above the Piano Man’s Jazz Club boasts of being the only eatery which serves Eurasian cuisine.
While the list of its offerings is long I would particularly focus on its pizzas. It would not be wrong to say that every new eatery, be it a fine dine or a gastro pub is serving pizzas, most of them being the wood fired oven thin crust variety. I believe rather than focusing on the preparation technique the chefs should concentrate more on the taste of the sauce and the choice of toppings, because the person sitting out there waiting for his pizza is not concerned whether the round piece of bread has come out of a wood fired oven or an electric oven. He only wants a good tasting pizza.
Two best places I found in Delhi for good Pizzas are Indigo Deli and Pizza Express. Coming to thin crust Pizzas at Dirty Apron, they score well in terms of flavour and the proportion of crust to the toppings. Tomato sauce is still the only sauce I prefer on a pizza crust and the one used here was full of flavour. The toppings were fresh and the choice of meats terrific. The crust was crispy yet flexible enough to fold and eat, the way Italians do it. Some bold Asian flavours such as the Bulgogi (Korean) and the Massaman added more thrill and excitement. Well this is something the Chef and his team at Dirty Apron are best at. They also have the traditional Italian Pizzas and ‘Oinker’ consisting of pepperoni, ham and bacon was my favourite.
We also tasted some captivating salads such as Somtam Salad; Grillled Peach, Arugula and Blueberry Salad; and Beetroot and Feta Salad; some interesting soups such as Pumpkin Peanut Butter Soup (Hot);
and Green apple and Vermouth Cold Soup; and some gleaming cocktails to complement our meal.
