I was pleasantly surprised with the delicious wholesome food and professional hospitality of Jakson Inns Phaltan on my recent visit to Phaltan in Maharashtra. Since I had checked into the hotel while breakfast was being served at Green Bean, I headed there and relished the hot breakfast served on the table on request. This approach helps to minimize food wastage, goes with the hotels green theme and gets a big thumbs up from me. The buffet spread included the bakery items, juices, fruits and cereals.

Green Bean is the multi cuisine restaurant and offers Indian, Oriental and Continental cuisine. Its spacious and elegant décor was completely to my liking. For lunch do give the murgh yakhni shorba a try. It really sets the tone for the meal to follow with the right hit of heat coming through. Dum ka murgh was a thick gravy with lovely subtle flavours. It went well with hot naans. Craving Oriental, I ordered crispy fried vegetables that were amazingly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.mysticfoodiemantra.com, maneesh srivastva food and lifestyle photographer, urbanescapades.in

The full of flavour green bean grill of my choice of fish came along with sides of herb marinated vegetables, red wine jus and mashed potato. Jackson Inns Phaltan even has a kids menu with some innovative names for regular dishes. My kids relished the fish fingers and pizza which was choc a bloc with vegetables.

Dessert completely blew me away- wattalapam which is a Srilankan dessert made with local ingredients like jaggery and coconut was a fabulous dish. The chocolate brownie, lemon soufflé and dark chocolate pastry were decandent.

Infused water is something one does not find frequently and some of the flavour combinations at Green Bean were wow. There was watermelon with green chilli, basil with tomato, cucumber with mint and each of these was refreshing. mysticfoodiemantra.com, maneesh srivastva food and lifestyle photographer, urbanescapades.in

For dinner, I savoured a Maharashtrian thali which was fabulous. Each dish complemented the other. The chaas was thick and creamy, while the varan and potato dish tasted like the one I ate at home making it the perfect comfort food. My personal favourite was the delicious bharli vangi. The second runner up had to be the rice of masala bhat which was perfectly seasoned and just totally yum. Mutton rasa had a nice spice component. To wind up the meal the shrikhand was spot on.

Fulltoon Bar of Jakson Inns Phaltan offers some innovative mocktails and cocktails like sugarcane mojito and wheatgrass martini where local ingredients are given an innovative twist. I loved my sugarcane latte and long island iced tea and hoped to try the other beverages on my next visit.
