A unique Christmas tree made up of 96 screens reflecting happy moments is inaugurated by H.E. Major General Vetsop Namgyel, the Ambassador of Bhutan in India at Le Meridien New Delhi
New Delhi, December 9, 2017 – This year Le Meridien New Delhi embarked on a remarkable journey to encourage everyone in the city to share their moments of happiness. A unique campaign – Share your #momentsofhappiness, has already set the tone to Christmas celebrations in the hotel this year.
The central point of the celebration is the Happiness Tree, an artistic installation with 96 screens depicting images of happy moments, decorated with cold LED lights and equipped with two large LED screens which will display moments of happiness as shared by our guests and the community at large.
The installation was unveiled by H.E. Major General Vetsop Namgyel, the Ambassador of Bhutan in India, a country that pioneered the concept of Happiness Index and conducts the well known Gross National Happiness to map the nation’s progress. Ambassador Namgyel shared some insights on how Bhutan topped the list of world’s happiest countries for many years.
Le Meridien New Delhi also invited thirty underprivileged children under the care of Concern India Foundation to sing the happy song and be part of the celebrations of lighting up the Christmas tree in an effort to touch the lives of those who have never known the joyous occasion of Christmas.
The online campaign #momentsofhappiness was designed to enthuse people of the city and the community to share their stories of happiness, anything that makes a person love his life more and with every hashtag that the hotel’s social media handles receive, the hotel ensures the presence of that many underprivileged children for a special Christmas feast for them.
The special Christmas tree is a symbol of happiness and through this tree the hotel management encourages its associates, guests and community at large to share happiness and embrace positivity. Each of the story that is shared buys a moment of happiness for a person who may be deprived of it.
The UN resolution in 2011 recognizes the pursuit of happiness as a fundamental human goal as well as the need for a more inclusive, equitable and balanced approach to economic growth that promotes sustainable development, poverty eradication, happiness and the well being of all people.
