I don’t give much importance to Authenticity when it comes to food, especially if it’s a casual dining place. Duty-Free is the latest entry in the Sector 29 market in Gurgaon and, well it surprised me with their food.

When I first met Chef Santu at Too India, I realized that he has great potential and with time he will definitely grow to become a better chef.

I know Varun for a while now and it’s also one of the reasons that I visit his restaurants. He has a knack for good food.

Duty-Free didn’t disappoint me at all. In fact, I am very happy that the food here is good which is not very common in the market of sector 29 where brewery has become the main criteria for survival. After Prankster and Molecule, Duty-Free is the new place, which not only serves good food, but the drinks are great as well.

The highlight of our meal was dumplings as they were one of the best I have eaten in a long time. Salads were great too and so was their pizza. The light tom yum broth, which they call it, my boss’s favorite was delicious. The light tangy broth with fish cooked lightly was a delight.

Maneesh Srivastva, food and travel blogger and photographer, urbanescapades.in, duty free bar gurgaon, chef shantu maity, varun puri, duty free -vayu bar gurgaonThey have to work on their cocktails, which I am sure they will be able to do it. This place has great vibes, no doubt and with Varun’s charm, it will work for sure.

My piece of Advice – it is a very competitive market and good food is the key, and if they manage to continue with their performance on food; they will do wonders. Shantu is a promising chef and I can see huge potential in him.
