Lights were dim, spirits were high and the kitchen was buzzing with energy. Kylin celebrated 14 years of success by launching a new outlet at the Aerocity. I had no idea but now it’s pretty clear that Aerocity is soon going to be a hot party destination for Delhites and Gurugrammers due to its convenient location. No wonder all the big names in F&B industry are interested in grabbing a piece of the cake.

I reached on time and was lucky enough to get some early bird shots of the place before it got really crowded. Generally, I am not fond of launch parties as in most of the times it gets too crowded for the kitchen to handle and even if it manages to keep up with the supply of entrees, the quality surely gets suffered. But not at Kylin. They kept it going with such finesse. There wasn’t even a single morsel of food that I could find fault with.  The service was fantastic too.

The cocktails were done to perfection. Vodka-based Sly Thai Martini had a really good flavour of Lychee that wasn’t overpowered by the use of more dominant flavours like lemon and lime leaf. Another Vodka based cocktail Oriental Passion had citrusy flavours of passion fruit and kaffir lime.

The food they served is probably among the best I’ve had in a launch party. The highlights were Lobster Bao, Chicken and Coriander Dumplings, Fish tossed in Thai Sauce, Stir Fried Prawns with Peppers, Tuna Pizza and Assorted Sushi. I must admit that while having a good time I realised that vegetarians had limited options. I liked the Kylin version of Chilli Potatoes and Veg Dumplings.

It’s amazing how Kylin has managed to win the hearts of both Indo-Chinese lovers and those who prefer a more authentic Pan Asian Cuisine. Maybe it’s the vibe, maybe it’s the hospitality, but one thing is for sure, they know pretty well what professionalism is all about.
