I would like to share my secret on how I enjoy my food.  No matter what I eat, and where I eat; It gives me immense satisfaction, whenever I eat using my hands and whenever I get to gorge on Indian food. Last week, I went to Surajkund Fair.  This fair is conducted every year from 1st to 15th Feb.  My purpose of visiting the fair, besides enjoying the celebration of Indian folk traditions and cultural heritage, was to have lunch at Paranda, the Indian speciality restaurant at Vivanta by Taj SurajKund. Executive Chef Ganesh Joshi, who has almost 3 decade of experience, has curated this specially designed menu keeping the fair in mind.

Paranda is a north Indian speciality restaurant focusing on food from across Punjab and also gets inspiration from dhabas of Punjab.

Amritsari pomfret was the star dish of the day. Huge size pomfret marinated with freshly grounded spices and hung curd, and then roasted in tandoor. One of the best cooked pomfret I have eaten in delhi/NCR. I would have loved to gorge on more of it. Besides amazing taste, the quality of fish too was great. I am sure that you know pomfret contains high amounts of omega 3 fatty acids that supply DHA, component for development of the brain.

While eating we have been discussing a lot about how the food scene has changed over the years and people have started preferring rustic cooking. It was also the reason that you will see more rustic cooking in the new menu. I had bever thought that I would like soup, made with lentils. It was refreshing and for a change was different from cheese and greasy soups.

Balti meat and the kofta comprising of palak and paneer was the highlight of the main course. The mutton was succulent and cooked well. You must eat Balti meat with mirchi ka paratha. You will relish the taste.

You shouldn’t miss Ludhiana special Bhatti da murg.  Well cooked chicken tikka, with excellent smoky flavour. If you love north Indian food and can’t travel to Punjab everytime – Visit Vivanta by taj, surajkund for amazing delicacies, It is also one of the best property in Delhi/NCR and you will enjoy not just the food, your stay too!

Plan your weekend here J -, Vivanta by Taj – Surajkund, NCR overlooks the imposing entry gate of the famed Surajkund Lake Complex.
