I felt like I had landed in Thailand or Bali. Yet, I was in Karjat at the luxurious Radisson Blu Resort & Spa with its eastern theme that is heavily inspired from Thailand and Bali. This gorgeous property incorporates natural elements of wood and stone and has verdant lawns, palm trees and water bodies with fountains. Its design is so eye catching that it has already won the Best Hotel Architecture, India at the Asia-Pacific Property Awards 2016-2017.
My drive to Radisson was scenic and the resort itself is enviously surrounded by hills on all sides with the Ulhas River flowing by on one side. After a smooth check in, I headed to the Escenza Spa and sipping my welcome drink of ginger and mint chose the therapy called Urban Retreat which included a pampering scrub, massage and wrap. The therapy started with a foot ritual comprising of a lemon grass foot soak and salt scrub.
I found the aura cleansing ritual interesting as my therapist rubbed basil aroma oil on her palms and after I inhaled it, she removed the negativity from my aura. Next, to energize my aura, I inhaled rose aroma oil. A chime near my ears further helped to infuse positivity. The neem tulsi scrub helps to balance the mind, nerves and emotions and acts as an anti-stress agent. The massage eased the knots and kinks of my body.
For the wrap, a tulsi and neem paste was applied on my body and I was wrapped in a plastic sheet. This helped to detoxify and improve my skin elasticity. A soothing dry head and face massage, steam session and shower ensured that I emerged feeling blissful. Famished, I headed to Palms which is the all day dining multi cuisine restaurant at Radisson Blu Karjat. Guests can enjoy buffet, à la carte as well as live cooking stations. They also have a Jain spread.
There are 102 accommodation options that include suites and rooms. The rooms are divided into superior and standard. You can choose whether you like the pool, hills or river facing view. I stayed in a tastefully designed superior room which had all the required state of the art amenities. Sitting in my room balcony, sipping hot tea and enjoying the clouds playing hide and seek with the lush green hills in front was an experience we urban dwellers seldom get and hence crave for.
The pool at Radisson should not be missed. It is divided into a central pool whose four corners have the kids’ pools. The pool also has an attached Jacuzzi which can accommodate 35 people at a time.
A destination in itself, the resort has a fully equipped gym, pool table, a kids’ room with PSPs supervised by a coordinator and the Blu Lounge which is their stylish bar offering international and Indian wines, spirits as well as cocktails.
When it comes to banqueting, the resort has a pillarless area of almost 50,000 square feet that includes both indoors and outdoors. The reliable and helpful staff ensures that meetings and conferences, weddings and get to gethers held here are not only conducted without any glitches but remembered long after.
