I like summers but with the mercury touching 41 degrees in Pune I was sapped and drained of energy. And the downside of summer- severe tan and sun burn- were clearly visible on my skin. While wondering what natural remedy I could adopt to reduce my tan, I came to know about the Sandalwood Soother at Heavenly Spa, The Westin Pune from Karishma Tecksingani, Spa Manager. I decided to try it specially since being a Parsi I have been closely associated with sandalwood.
At Heavenly Spa, the elixir of citrus cooler was refreshing and rich in vitamin A and C which help in boosting immunity and reduce ageing. After changing into a disposable undergarment, I went for 10 minutes of steam which opens the pores of the skin so that the scrub can be better absorbed by my body. As I lay face down on the spa bed, my therapist, Jyosi chimed the singing bowl to vibrate the positive energy around us and also to commence the therapy. The scrub was applied by putting the sandalwood powder on my body and then rose water which is also cooling in nature. Warm water evened out the scrub.
The fragrant aroma of the sandalwood did wonders for my olfactory sense while the therapy itself relaxed my entire body and mind. Sandalwood has a cooling effect, is anti-allergic, reduces tan and sun burn and is an excellent moisturizer. Once the scrub was done, I took a shower, changed into a fresh disposable undergarment and lay down for the back and leg massage using lavender massage oil which aids sleep, calms the nerves and improves flexibility.
The head massage was amazing and took away my stress, stimulated the nerves on my scalp and improved the blood circulation within my head. For those 70 minutes of the Sandalwood Soother, I did feel like I was in heaven and as I left smiling, I couldn’t wait to come back again for another heavenly time.
