An invitation from Hotel Clarks Shiraz is exactly what we needed to revisit Agra, the city of heritage, grandeur and hospitality. The hotel is Agra’s oldest 5 star luxury property and guests can view both the Taj Mahal and Red Fort from its rooftop Mughal specialty restaurant called The Mughal Room. Hotel Clarks Shiraz also has the distinction of being awarded the best leisure hotel 2015 (north and east) and is the venue for the Taj Literature Festival. Hence our expectations were sky high and the property lived up to them.
We stayed in the luxurious Meenakshi suite which had its own private Jacuzzi. For dinner, we listened to live ghazals and relished delicious Mughlai at The Mughal Room which also offers Chinese and continental cuisine. The grand Mughal Bar, multi cuisine lunch at Checkers, barbecue and grills served at the rooftop Sun Set Lounge and freshly baked cakes and other bakery items at Cakes & Bakes ensured that we were tummy ready for exploring Agra. The spa, gym, leisure room and 7 feet deep pool shouldn’t be missed.
Since there is a Post Office inside the hotel, we sent ourselves post cards to relive our vibrant memories of Agra once we got back home.
