We always miss good hummus and fresh pita bread in Delhi. Well, I do for sure! Whatever we get in Delhi is very much inspired by our own cuisine. Like you will get more than the required amount of garlic in hummus. I remember Parinita telling us about the opening of a new middle eastern restaurant at Hyatt Regency when we met in February this year. But unfortunately, it got postponed because of covid-19. But finally, they opened it last week, and we were there for the preview night.

You will simply fall in love with the changing colours and the beautiful interiors and the look of this restaurant! The pics are enough to mesmerize you and just think about how quickly it will lift your energy the moment you will put your foot here!

As I had the privilege to stay for months in Saudi Arabia, I clearly enjoy and get thrilled when I get to eat Arabic kebabs and their dips.

Tabbouleh which is difficult to get in Delhi was perfect, moutabal – charcoal-grilled Aubergine was delicious, and we enjoyed each morsel.

For the hot mezzes mention of Kibbeh Maklieh is a must. A preparation of minced lamb deep fried with crush wheat and onion is a must-try.

We had some of their cocktails with whiskey and we loved it. Do try them, you will love them too!

Not to forget to have Um Ali the finest dessert from the middle east – traditional Egyptian dessert is a must at Syrah.

UPDATE – 27th November

Syrah opens doors today

It hasn’t ever happened that after food testing and sharing feedback, we have been called again to the same place prior to opening. Usually, when the feedback is not taken well, there is little or no improvement and we do not visit those places either due to quality or we know we will not be able to do justice to what we write. For us, it has to be genuine and something that the readers will also look forward to visiting the place. Well, this journey is not that easy about food tasting and enjoying the luxuries.

Restaurants, when they work hard, understand what their customers need, they spread their wings and reach greater heights. Syrah is going to be one such place! I was called again at Syrah at Hyatt Regency Delhi for final tasting before opening their doors to the public. And i must say that i am very happy that they worked really well to make sure that food is authentic and delicious. My discussion with Chef on how without comprising the authenticity of the food, they want to give the delhi circle the real taste of middle eastern food. The lamb kobideh, chicken shawarma and the seesh touk was absolutely bang on and authentic. Their hummus is exactly the same as you get in any middle eastern country with an excess of garlic ( this is how you get in runaway cafes).

Syrah is ready and i am very sure it will be loved by all. You need to visit this place and enjoy the authenticity with an open mind ( in case you haven’t had the privilege to taste the REAL middle eastern cuisine). It is important to understand the food, the taste and the texture which can clearly be taken me by a spell! You should try their baklava and o mali. You will love them…

Congratulations to the team and wishing you success and the team that really focuses on quality and takes everything with a positive stride has already done everything that is required! It has been my pleasure to be a part of the food tasting and enjoying what I ate!
