Before I start sharing my experience about My Maiden Thailand trip, let me share quick tips that will help you to organize your trip better.

Important Tips

  1. Make sure you keep your departure ticket until you move out of Airport( return).
  2. Don’t forget to buy your travel insurance(buy it online, very cheap)
  3. If you are not going in a group, get a local sim at the airport.
  4. Carry Thai currency and dollars( don’t exchange at the airport, however, you can exchange prior to your departure, before check-in)
  5. VOA is very easy at the airport,2200 baht is for fast processing( 7-9 min max) but they accept the only thai currency.
  6. Always speak slow as they don’t understand English well.

Now, let’s talk about my first maiden trip to Thailand. This mega fam trip was organized by TAT New Delhi and they invited called bloggers, journalists, trade people from across the country. Media people from Delhi were in the same group, though we met fellow bloggers from Mumbai and Bangalore as well.

I will divide my journey into parts and will share about each place that I visited, restaurants where I ate, and other stuff. Anyone who has explored Thailand or is yet to explore, read on to join me on my incredible journey!

Day 1, Bangkok

After having not so good experience at T3, we landed at Swarnabhumi Airport, Bangkok. It’s on the outskirts of the city. Before checking in the hotel we were taken to Asiatique Riverside, a tourist spot right in the middle of Bangkok. Behind the village is the sea, On the back, you can see the sea, an interesting place for pictures.

Taste of Thai by Joe Louis at Asiatique Riverside, Bangkok

We had our dinner at Taste of Thai by Joe Louis, which is located on the Asiatique Riverfront, an upmarket Thai restaurant. Don’t forget to order fresh coconut water. They are fresh, sweet and tastes great. Well, if you stay in coastal areas, you will understand that tastes differ, as coconut water has to be consumed fresh, largely because, once exposed to air and warm temperatures, it rapidly deteriorates. Available throughout Thailand, I am sure you will love it J. Food here was good especially the som tum salad and fish cakes.

Word of caution – Thai food in Thailand is spicier than what you have eaten in India. The som tum salad and other curries were spicier and hence depending on the level of spiciness you enjoy – your love for the food in this region will vary! Just be aware of this fact!

Montein Riverside Hotel, Bangkok

maneesh srivastva, lifestyle blogger and photographer, urbanescapades.in, amazing thailand, tat new delhi, mega fam trip to thailand trip to bangkok, fam trip We stayed here for two nights. Excellent hotel, one of the oldest and popular luxury hotel in Bangkok. My room had the riverside view which was breath-taking. We had our breakfast here.  Next evening we had gala dinner hosted by TAT where all the delegates and media were present. If you are planning to stay in Bangkok, Montien is definitely an excellent option.

Important – They have an Indian chef who is from Uttarakhand, so if you want to eat Indian food, you should definitely look out for him. We enjoyed puri and aloo subzi and it was outstanding.

Art in Paradise, Shopping at Platinum Mall, Street shopping, and  Lunch at Cascade, Amari Hotel

maneesh srivastva, lifestyle blogger and photographer, urbanescapades.in, amazing thailand, tat new delhi, mega fam trip to thailand trip to bangkok, fam tripIt was a busy day. After our breakfast, we went to visit Art in Paradise. A 3D Museum also referred as Trick- eye museum is a place where you can re-live your childhood. 3D images where you can impose yourself and be part of the fun tour. One of the most entertaining parts of our Thailand trip.

Food

Apart from thai food which is available everywhere in Thailand, Italian is perhaps the most popular cuisine in Thailand. Food at Cascade is very good and we really enjoyed our lunch here.

Next to the hotel is for you to do street shopping, plenty of small shops to shop or else cross the road and get into the Platinum Mall, an upmarket mall of Bangkok.

Our welcome Dinner was hosted by TAT at Hotel Monterin Riverside. We enjoyed a great meal at their lawn. We relished Thai food and it was good to see a variety of Indian food served by the hotel along with Gol Gappa. Well, Indians find comfort always in home food!

Post the delicious dinner, we went back to our rooms to enjoy the comfort of the bed. The next 2 days were busier.

Journey continues……

In the next blog post, I will talk about smaller and unknown places of Thailand. Most of you may not have explored and if you are a nature lover, the next blog is for you.
