Scope of Drive-in In India

I always wonder why we don’t have numerous drive-in, where we drive and pick up the food ?

In the Covid times when people are still trying to convince themselves for dine-in in a restaurant, drive-in proves to be a great option.

Well this might not work for all the cuisines, but works well for fast food chains.  We have few drive-ins, but hardly any in city. McDonald in sector -18 noida used to have a drive-in when they opened, but now that market is a big chaos.

Before covid, it was easier for me and Naina to catch-up with each other after office hours where just both of us would spend some time (go out on a date!). Now, in current situation we have not been going out. Yesterday evening, we went out for a short drive in the evening and all we wanted was to talk, spend some time together and grab some bite on the go.

Dhaula-Kuan metro station has a drive-in for burger king, even though their quality has gone down over the years, we thought let’s eat something.

The veg burger was tasteless, and the famous whopper was disappointing. I have always wondered why they failed to maintain their standards.

Even though their food was bad, I still think that drive-in has greater future prospects in India, if channelized well.

Our First outing during Covid-19 at Guppy

It was our second outing, post march since the lockdown started. Our family had recovered from COVID recently (been 2 months now), and it wasn’t an easy journey! To celebrate Naina’s birthday we wanted to go a place, where we knew the staff and restaurant that we know follow safety and hygiene.

Besides this, we also wanted to keep delectable food in mind. We chose Guppy as last year too, on Naina’s Birthday, we enjoyed a sumptuous meal. This also has been my son’s favorite place for his love of Sushi, Salmon and Pork Belly. And I do not need to mention again that Chef Vikram is the most passionate, talented and knowledgeable Japanese chef in Delhi.

We had ordered a lot of food between three of us. Yet, Chef Vikram complimented with an amazing Mango Sushi and Chocolate brownie for the dessert. I don’t enjoy chocolate, but loved the dessert that was served. The pork belly was as usual fantastic. My son loved the salmon sushi as well as grilled salmon. He ordered another plate of Salmon Sushi. Naina loved her miso soup and was bowled over by the exotic grilled vegetable.

Guppy is without a doubt the best Japanese restaurant in town. The food, quality, and the consistency is unmatchable. My son has announced that he would love visiting Guppy to celebrate special occasions. Before lockdown too me and my son were invited for an amazing lunch!  My ramen bowl with pork was exceptional.

Guppy is taking all precautionary steps to make sure your dining experience is unmatchable. I feel safe while dining there and would love to go back again.  Thank you Chef for the amazing lunch! The celebration was worth everything!
