After almost 5 months of lockdown, restaurants are now allowed to operate and night curfew has been lifted. Now they are also allowed to serve alcohol. Corona is not going to end soon and there isn’t any sign of vaccine. We have to live with this for some more time. The time period can’t be defined yet.

Last week we went to Gurgaon for our regular eye test, and post that we wanted to have Chinese. We went to CrossPoint mall and found out that Big Wong was no longer operational. We were very disappointed. We then saw Yeti and decided to dine in as we were very hungry.food and travel Writer and photographer, Maneesh Srivastava, urbanescapades.in, #lockdowneffect, yeti the himalayan kitchen, dine-in with safety measures

The place was empty, but I was sure that people will soon start coming. We were late for lunch and yet people started pouring in. There was the usual rush in market and life seems to be returning back to normal.

We ordered a lot of food. Naina loved their Nepali veg thali. It is very similar to what we eat in Bihar. Papad fried in mustard oil gives excellent taste and I am used to that. I wonder if people in Nepal actually fry their papad in vegetable oil as that is how it was served in YETI.

While our chicken and mutton momos were excellent, I wished their filling could have been fuller. The roadside chilli chicken was excellent.  The food at Yeti is excellent and it also doesn’t burn your wallet. I would love to go back again.

Jamie’s Italian

I had to admit that it was not a wise decision to order food from Jamie’s Italian, I never had a good experience there and I should have avoided. Knowingly we ordered and we regret it. Even a roadside place can make better spaghetti aglio olio than them. I have been making spaghetti at home from the last couple of months and been missing the perfect flavour that I get in a restaurant. However, ordering from Jamie’s Italian was a bad decision. Even the simple margarita pizza was bad.  I mean an Italian place serving an overcooked spaghetti (almost like over-boiled) is nothing but creating a hole in the pocket. Never will I order from here again!

Pre-cocktail mixes

If there is one thing I missed during the pandemic, it was cocktails. I love cocktails and love trying different concoction with seasonal ingredients. I miss the places where I know some of the finest mixologists. Nitin Tewari has been sharing some amazing cocktails recipe on his Instagram. I would definitely try them at home and serve it to my friends and family. During the pandemic and interesting find out is the emerging trend of cocktail mixes, a ready to use premixes, to mix with your choice of spirit and your amazing cocktail is ready. I know Gaurav Sahai for quite some time now and have been following his bar engineer video where he has been posting amazing cocktail recipes. They have 11 craft pre-cocktail mixes. I have tried some of these and they were amazing. Easy, simple to make and tastes absolutely great!. I guess these are going to be regular at my home now. Gaurav has hired bartenders on his own so that he can help them during the lockdown.
