As I haven’t visited all the hotels in Delhi, post-re-opening, I wouldn’t be able to give you a comparative list.
But here is the thing – Shangri-La New Delhi is doing everything to follow best practices for safety and hygiene, and I can say with complete confidence that you can visit and enjoy their excellent food and outstanding service.
Be ready to park your car on your own, because of the safety of the guest, they haven’t yet started the valet parking. I think it’s a great step. At the entrance, you need not touch the hand sanitizer. When you sit in the restaurant, apart from the no-contact menu, which you get after scanning the code, you also have to fill a safety form.
The best thing in the restaurant is that your cutlery and napkin is sanitized and placed in a sealed envelope. You can only expect this kind of level with such an international brand.
Food was exceptionally brilliant, and I have always admired them, for their consistency. I had the best Spaghetti Aglio e olio finally and realised that there are certain dishes that can neither be delivered nor cooked at home. You can just get a very close version but will be unable to reach the state of perfection, the way I had at Shangri-la. The asparagus soup was warm and fresh and water chestnut dimsums were outstanding. Phad thai, pan-fry noodles and assorted veg in soya sauce was top notch. As I have to partake vegetarian over the next 2 weeks, because of pitr paksha, I must confess, that I enjoyed vegetarian food at Shangri –la to the brim!
